As microesferas de resina SIR-Spheres® Y-90 são administradas, sob anestesia local, por um profissional de saúde especialmente treinado que

  • faz uma pequena incisão, geralmente na artéria femoral, próxima à virilha (A);
  • guia um microcateter para o local pré-especificado na artéria hepática (conforme identificado durante o planejamento pré-tratamento) (B);
  • administra microesferas de resina SIR-Spheres® Y-90 através desse cateter (C, D).

O procedimento inteiro pode levar cerca de 60-90 minutos.

Após a finalização, recomenda-se que os pacientes façam uma TC para confirmar a colocação das microesferas de resina SIR-Spheres Y-90 no fígado. Os pacientes devem ser monitorados por algumas horas e a maioria dos pacientes recebe alta em 24 horas.
