Free Event for Patients, Caregivers and Medical Community Proves There is HOPE for Patients with Cancer that has Spread

DENVER, Colo. (April 18, 2014) – YES! Beat Liver Tumors, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the support of patients diagnosed with primary or metastatic liver tumors, will co-sponsor a patient and caregiver event in conjunction with Sky Ridge Medical Center and RIA Endovascular at 10 a.m. on Sat., May 3 at Lone Tree Arts Center (10075 Commons St.).  The program, called If cancer Spreads, where do you turn? is designed to offer options, resources, support and hope for those whose cancer has metastasized.

YES! advocates are working with cancer specialists from these local healthcare facilities to raise awareness for liver and other tumor treatment options in the greater Denver area.

“Every year more than 200,000 Americans are diagnosed with liver tumors, and many are told, as I was, to get their affairs in order,” said Suzanne Lindley, co-founder and executive director of YES! and 13-year cancer survivor. “We want to let patients and physicians know there are treatment options available – liver tumors, and other tumors that have spread, are no longer a death sentence.”

This educational series, offered at medical centers across the country, is designed to provide patients and caregivers the opportunity to hear Lindley’s empowering story that there is hope despite a devastating diagnosis. Joining Lindley are Medical Oncologist Ioana Hinshaw, MD; Internist Edward Carriere, MD; Surgical Oncologist Eric Kortz, MD and Interventional Radiologists Charles Nutting, DO, FSIR and Peter Stratil, MD, MBA. The physician panel will discuss emerging therapies they are offering in their multidisciplinary approach to care, such as Selective Internal Radiation Therapy (SIRT) using yttrium-90 microspheres that directly target liver tumors while sparing healthy liver tissue.

“This event will give patients in our area a great opportunity to hear Suzanne’s inspirational survival story and learn more about treatment options for cancer that has spread,” said Dr. Nutting. “At RIA Endovascular we are using some of the latest therapies available to treat metastasized tumors, and we are pleased to have the opportunity to share this information with patients, their families and the community.”

For more information on the free, or to register for the event, please visit or call 877-937-7478. Please note that space is limited. Reservations are a must and will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis. Complimentary food and drinks will be provided.
