The primary role of the Senior Director/Director of Medical Affairs will be to assist in further establishing and building the medical affairs function for the company from the ground up.


  • Continue to grow the medical affairs function for the company. This will include developing core materials, training new employees, establishing corporate guidelines and all other aspects of building a successful
  • Provide medical expertise to the Commercial Team to assist in the development and execution of compliant commercial
  • Work closely with senior leadership to support commercialization and research activities. This will include: Health Outcomes Research, Medical Information, Publication planning, KOL development, and other related
  • Provide field-based support for Medical Science Liaison
  • Act as a scientific expert between company and the medical community through the dissemination and clarification of scientific data and
  • Provide support for ongoing clinical trials and assist with site recruitment, enrollment and management of company sponsored and investigator-initiated
  • Facilitate involvement in national, regional, and local educational forums including advisory boards, symposia, and CME
  • Serve as an expert consultant to internal cross-functional partners within company by providing product related scientific information and technical support for training.
  • Undergo all formal Training Events as may be Directed from time-to-time
  • Observe and Comply with all Sirtex Corporate Policies
  • Work within, and ensure adherence to Quality System procedures, work instructions and other Quality System
  • Work within, and ensure adherence to Health, Safety and Environment Management System procedures, instructions and other

Educational Prerequisites and Skill Requirements.

  • Strong understanding of clinical research trials, related medical practice, clinical decision-making, healthcare systems, reimbursement, and other aspects impacting patient care
  • Excellent communication skills, using the spoken word, writing clearly and concisely, and presenting information publicly
  • Effectively build relationships with customers and co-workers
  • Prioritize multiple assignments, and deliver results in dynamic work environment
  • Work independently and as part of a diverse team
  • Complete assigned tasks under stressful situations
  • Organize and direct oneself and effectively supervise others
  • Work independently with minimal supervision
  • Able to convince a group of people to work toward a goal
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, gets along well with a variety of personalities and individuals
  • MD, PharmD, PhD or significant clinical oncology experience is preferred
  • 5 plus years of experience in biotech/pharmaceutical industry
  • Minimum of 3-5 years MSL management experience
